Gerald "BEANS" ROEPKE- New Germany

Beans graduated from Norwood -Young America in 1959 and played baseball for his High School during that time. He played Amateur baseball for 29 years 1958-1987. Beans managed New Germany 1970-71, 1983,1985,1986,1987.

Beans still serves as Region 7C Commissioner from 2000 resigning 2021. He served as President of Baseball club 1985-1987

Beans served on the committee which replaced dugouts , concessions and grand stand. He has maintained the field and prep the field for games. He has lined and groomed the ball park whenever it needed repair.

He was team MVP 1961-1980, He still has the teams highest batting averages .446 in 1980, 1981 .333, 1982 .461, 1986 .500. He was the Crow River League Batting Champ 1980 .446

Beans coached the American Legion baseball team for 5 years and during his time were 1966 District champions

Beans was inducted to Mn Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993

Beans serves as a Board Member for the Hall of Fame and was Chairman of the Selection Committee during that time. 1996-2021

He served as a member of the New Germany Fire Department , New Germany Commercial Club as well as the New Germany baseball club.

He attends St Marks Luthern Church.

Obituary Gerald E. “Beans” Roepke age 80

of New Germany passed away on Thursday November 25, 2021 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Funeral Service held on Friday December 3, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark Lutheran Church (510 Broadway Street E.) New Germany.  Visitation Thursday 4-8 P.M. and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday ALL AT THE CHURCH.  Interment St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.

Gerald was born on July 11, 1941 the son of Ewald and Alma (Burdorf) Roepke. He was baptized on August 10, 1941 and confirmed on April 3, 1955 both at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany. On June 15, 1963 Gerald was united in marriage to Karen Kohls at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Ewald and Alma Roepke; uncle and aunt Walter and Laura Roepke; cousin Arnie Roepke; father-in-law and mother-in-law Victor and Violet Kohls.

Gerald is survived by his loving family: wife Karen; children Eric Roepke, Paul (Julie) Roepke, Mary (Doug) Stuedeman, Nathan (Sherry) Roepke; grandchildren Braedy Roepke, Rachel Roepke, Matthew Roepke, Alex Stuedeman, Cole Stuedeman, Kaelyn Roepke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Craig and Roz Kohls; cousins Carolyn and David Effertz, Harvey Roepke, Lynn Roepke; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Casket Bearers are his grandchildren.
